In Tyson’s own words

My background

I'm a First Nations engineer and researcher based in regional Queensland, with a strong interest in environmental stewardship, resource management and developing practical engineering solutions to real-world challenges.

My background has taken me through a range of industries and experiences, including working with young people, industrial environments and engineering research. These experiences have shaped how I think about technology, community and the opportunities that can emerge when we approach problems differently.

As an engineer, I'm interested in finding better ways to use the resources we already have. As a First Nations person, I also recognise the importance of caring for Country and considering the longer-term consequences of the decisions we make today.

Why I established Vultjarrk

These interests led me to establish Vultjarrk.

I wanted to build a business that could bring together environmental responsibility, engineering innovation and economic opportunity. One that could help address waste challenges while contributing to Australia's long-term energy security and regional development.

Creating opportunities

My ambition has always been to create opportunities that benefit the wider community.

I believe that meaningful employment, education and participation in emerging industries can make a real difference in people's lives, particularly in regional Australia, where access to these opportunities can sometimes be limited.

I also believe that stewardship is a responsibility we all share. Through Vultjarrk, I hope to encourage greater awareness of how our everyday decisions affect Country, and how working together can create better outcomes for our communities and environment.

Looking beyond sustainability

For me, sustainability should not be the final destination. We should aspire to go further, developing systems where human activity and the natural environment can support and strengthen one another.

Through Vultjarrk, I hope to demonstrate that sustainable businesses can be commercially viable, environmentally responsible and socially beneficial.

Success isn't simply about establishing a facility or producing renewable fuels. It's about creating something that contributes to Australia's future, strengthens communities, helps regenerate the environment and leaves behind greater opportunities and a healthier Country for future generations.
